Foundry Casting Cooling System
Chain driven live roller conveyor is
utilized to create 6 cooling lanes and 1 empty pallet return lane. Shuttles on the right and left sides select
which lane to service. The right hand shuttle receives empty slave pallets for transfer to one of two vertical lifts. The lift brings the pallet into position to receive castings from a robot, takes it back down into a cooling pit, and fills the cooling lanes. The left hand shuttle empties the cooling conveyors in a FIFO manner, and moves the pallets to another vertical lift which transfers the pallets/castings to another robot for gate saw-off and sand removal.
Cylinder Sleeve Transfer System
Utilizing gravity roller and steel mat-top conveyor, finished cylinder sleeves are discharged from four
machining centers. Stopped at the end of the gravity conveyor lane by an escapement, parts are either fed through a vertical lift onto the lower mat-top conveyor, or transfered by the lift to the upper level mat-top. End-of-line is a robot pack-off station.
Dual-drive Power & Free Conveyor
This system solves unique problems created by multiple load and unload stations combined with a production rate that required
conveyor speeds greater than the process speed of the washer/dryer. The power & free conveyor was set up with two drives. A slow, power-only chain moved parts through the washer/dryer at the speed required for the process. Once discharged from the dryer, part carriers were wiped onto a fast power and free chain, where they were transfered at high speed to various stations. The high-speed chain was able to make up time lost at the various stations due to the dwell time required for load/unload operations.
Enclosed Track Overhead Conveyor
This conveyor indexes carriers into the washer/dryer. A photo-eye trained at the carriers directs the control system to stop the
conveyor for a pre-determined period, allowing spray jets in the washer to accomplish the process. At the end of the time-out, the conveyor indexes to the next carrier position.
Line-Feed Conveyor Systems Utilizing gravity roller, chain-driven roller, or drag chain conveyor, pallets or containers are moved with either over/under or side by side conveyor lanes. One lane is typically dedicated for empty containers, and the other for full. Operators either load into empty, or out of full containers, which are staged on lengths of conveyor as
needed, to insure that operators are not interupted by waiting for a fork lift to supply new, or take away full containers.
Carton Handling Conveyor A combination of gravity roller, powered roller, accumulation, and powered belt incline conveyors were implemented in this system.
Multiple work cells feed cartons onto transportation conveyor. Powered belt incline conveyors then raise the product to ceiling level where the additional transportation and accumulation conveyors do not take up valuable floor space. Merge conveyor sections allow products from various work cells to be inserted in the accumulation queue, in the sequence necessary to fill specific customer orders. A decline belt conveyor then brings the product to
floor level for packing and shipping.
